Named for the sacred sword carried by Japan’s Samurai warriors, Calphalon® Katana Series® cutlery has its roots in a centuries-old tradition of superior cutlery craftsmanship. Like the awe-inspiring swords wielded by the Samurai, Calphalon Katana Series cutlery is crafted using VG-1 Japanese Steel, and a time-honored layering process which produces a Damascus style blade. This process results in exceptional sharpness and durability to the blade, and gives the knives a distinctive, beautiful surface pattern.

The Professional Cookware Company began life in 1993 as a small family business which developed into a cookware specialist with the launch of our now famous T304 Stainless Steel saucepan set in early 1996. These were sold via magazines and also at consumer fairs including the BBC Good Food Show until, with enough confidence and a broad product range, the first mail order catalogue was launched. This was closely followed by the first showroom in Cheltenham.
Cookware Manufacturers Association
The CMA is a not-for-profit trade association owned by its membership: manufacturers of cookware, bakeware and kitchenware with substantial operations and headquarters in the United States. The CMA began in the early 1920s as the Aluminum Wares Association, became the Metal Cookware Manufacturers Association in the 1960s and in the 1970s changed its name to the Cookware Manufacturers Association in recognition of its representation of all types of cookware and bakeware materials. The CMA’s mission is to inform and promote the industry to its members, their customers and to the general public.
