I have an Anchor Hocking glass baking dish. Thanks to frequent use, and children doing dishes, it has baked on dirt. I can’t seem to get it completely off. I’ve tried scrubbing, and even soaking in bleach. It still has ugly brown spots as well as being tacky to the touch. Any good old fashioned remedies for this? I really don’t want to go out and get some speciality cleaner just for this one dish.
Is oven cleaner safe for a baking dish I plan on cooking directly?

The best thing to use is an SOS pad. It will not scratch your glass either. Just wet it and scrub away. I use them all the time and have no problem getting old baked on grease and dirt off. Just try and see and you’ll keep a box on hand all the time. Great for cleaning the bottom of pots and pans.

Those Mr. Clean Magic Eraser things work really well…I’ve used them myself when my glass baking dishes had food really baked on and nothing else took it off. I’ve even used them to clean bbq grills. Just be sure to rinse dish really well. They run about $2.00 each but are really worth it…these things clean just about anything.

  8. This may sound unbelivable but I use the tablets or powder for cleaning dentures.Place in dish fill with cold water and let stand overnight. It works for me.

Boil water and fill the dish up. Add some dawn and swish around. Let sit til cool enough to touch. Use a scraper and/or a good scrubbie sponge. You may need to repeat this a few times, but this will get it off.

spray with oven cleaner and then put in the dish washer. i do this with any dish or pan that has food stuck to it. i have a generic form of oven cleaner and it works real great. i even spray my glass oven dishes and also my good stainless pans.

my pans have never looked so good

Baking soda, lemon juice or vinegar works on just about everything, including dishware. Sprinkle baking soda on the stain then soak a toothbrush with stiff bristles in the lemon juice or vinegar and scrub. I have to warn you, you might have to do this a few times.

I love to clean glass baking dishes with a paste made from Ivory Liquid and Arm and Hammer Baking Soda Detergent. Just let it set over night and most of it will come off. Bleach will take it off.
