I am about to purchase copper cookware from an individual. The set is new and never used to cook with. I person says that I have to remove the protective seal first before using the cookware. Does anyone know about this procedure? Also, if you know…what is the fastest and easiest way to do this? Thanks very much for any help I can get on this subject.

  1. Freedom says:

    Use acetone to remove it.
I hope you like polishing copper. It requires regular polishing with copper cleaner to keep it looking good.

I have never heard of such a procedure. It could just be a thin covering you can tear away. That is the only thing I can imagine. good luck.

Metal is usually treated with oils as protectant…all you have to do is wash them…
