Have spent the last year replacing my trusty Revereware with Calphalon One and must say…the change is wonderful. My last piece to replace was the dutch oven and I finally found this 5 qt Calphalon piece. I have used it for soups, stews, spaghetti sauce, and roasts, and it works beautifully. I really like it. My only complaint with this is that is does not have a domed lid like my Revereware pot, but I can manage without it. If you need a dutchoven smaller than Calphalon’s typical 7 or 10 qt. models, this is the one!

This Calphalon One works for me as a deep casserole or a dutch oven. It is rated to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. It is durable against scratching, but do not use metal utensils, only wood or plastic. The lid is solid, and not see through like the 7 quart model.
Clean up is really easy, I usually fill it with hot suds and let is sit for a minute, come back with a dish brush and wipe it all out. It is not dishwasher safe though. It is nonstick, very big at 5 quarts. The infused anodized aluminum material transfers heat evenly without hot or cold spots in my experience. It is very light for its size and easy on my wrists. The pan and its non-stick qualities is guaranteed for the life of the pan. The handles are sturdy, and I have never had a problem with them on any of Calphalon pots and pans. Nice pan and I recommend.

Can’t say enough nice things about this Dutch oven. It fits comfortably adjacent to other cookware on my stove, and can be lifted effortlessly into the oven. The lid can be used in the oven also. The handles, lid, and design are ergonomic and elegant. The body is made of exceptionally smooth hard anodized aluminum that heats evenly and releases food effortlessly when washed. The five-quart size is perfect for cooking for up to four people. Browning, sautéing, stewing, and roasting can all be done in this pot. It performs much like cast iron and enameled cast iron, but it is easier to handle, simpler to maintain, and doesn’t scratch surfaces. I would recommend the “Calphalon One” product line without hesitation for ceramic cooktops, and for all cooktops and ovens that work with hard anodized aluminum cookware.

I purchased this Dutch Oven about a month ago and have already used it to cook several meals, including braised lamb shanks in herb reduction sauce and meat sauce. It’s amazing. Nothing sticks, and clean-up is incredibly easy!
